CHICOPEE – Marilyn T. (Roy) Sliwa, 82, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Springfield on May 21, 1931, a beloved daughter of the late Armand J. and Doris M. (Jacques) Roy. She was raised in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, attended Chicopee High School and lived in Chicopee for most of her life. She was employed for over 25 years as an inspector at the former Spartan Saw Works in Agawam and retired in 1995. She was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee. Marilyn was a quiet woman and a wonderful homemaker to her family. She showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her cherished granddaughter, Lynn A. Bowler who was Called Home on July 7, 2003; her beloved husband and best friend, Stanley W. Sliwa who was Called Home on February 11, 2010; and her loving son, Mark E. Sliwa who was Called Home on November 19, 2010. She leaves her loving daughter and son-in-law, Lynn A. Bowler and her husband, Thomas, of Chicopee; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Sliwa of Chicopee; her four cherished grandchildren, Thomas J. Bowler and his wife, Luz, of Springfield, Lisa M. Rosario and her husband, Orlando, of Enfield, CT, Melissa Sliwa of North Carolina and Natalie Sliwa of Chicopee; her seven cherished great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jeremy, Patrick, Ryan and Brandon, and Hannah and Marcus; her dear sister-in-law, Denise T. Sliwa of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Sliwa and Roy families. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, December 30, 2013 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning, December 30, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
