Obituary

Worcester- Yvonne E. (Richard) Birtz, 95, of 667 Washington Street, Auburn,formerly of Worcester, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, in St. Francis Home.

Her husband, Amedee J. “Penny” Birtz, died in 1971. She leaves a son, Richard L. Birtz of Sun City, AZ; two daughters, Lucille Y., wife of Alfred Bourassa of Las Vegas, NV, and Jeanne T., wife of William R. Cusson of Shrewsbury; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She also leaves several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph and Zelia (Tessier) Richard and lived in Worcester most of her life before moving to Auburn.

Mrs. Birtz and her husband owned and operated the former Penny’s Market for many years.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Parish and a former longtime member of St. Joseph’s Parish.

She was a member of the 1050 Club and enjoyed playing bingo.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 35 Hamilton St. Fr. Philip McNamara will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, Building Fund, 5 Whitman Rd., Worcester, MA 01609.
