Paul L. Shakespeare died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the home of his daughter in Natick. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire T. (Cristofori) Shakespeare.
Born in Waltham on June 23, 1926, he was the son of the late William and Anna
(Megan) Shakespeare, step-son of the late Bertha (Merrill) Shakespeare. Mr. Shakespeare was a respected Banker for 50 years retiring as Vice President and Trustee of the Watertown Savings Bank. He served in the communities as Director of the Watertown Boys Club, Treasurer of the Natick Little League. As one of the oldest members of Fisk Memorial United Methodist Church, he served on many committees. He served on the Board of Directors for FitSense Technology Inc.
Paul Shakespeare was known for his outstanding singing voice not only in Church but also on a daily basis for all to enjoy.
He was a graduate of the American Institute of Banking and graduated in the First Class of the Brown University School of Banking in 1962. Mr. Shakespeare attended the Natick School System and graduated from Natick High School in 1944, and then entered the United States
Army Air Corps serving from 1944 to 1946.
He is survived by two daughters Paula L. Shakespeare and her husband, Thomas P. Blackadar of Natick, Ann S. DelVecchio and her husband, Mark of Wellesley, grandchildren Luke Paul and his wife, Zemira, Leah Claire, Samuel Mark and his wife, Maria, and Alexander Christian DelVecchio, Paul Thomas and Daniel Shakespeare Blackadar, great-grandchildren Agnese Claire, Isaiah Lawrence, Miriam Ann, and Luciana Teresa; his loving companion, Jerri Meneely; brother-in law Ronald Cristofori and his wife Charline; and nieces and nephews Charon, Scott, and Carla, and Mark Cristofori. He was pre-deceased by his brother-in law, Francis Cristofori, his wife, Mary, Claire's parents, Venusta and Oreste Cristofori, and brother, William Shakespeare, killed in action WWII USS Ranger.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Fisk Memorial United Methodist Church, 106 Walnut Street, Natick. Burial will be private.
