
HOLYOKE – Edward P. Plante, Sr., 81, of Holyoke was Called Safely Home on Monday, December 9, 2013. He passed into Eternal Life from his home surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on July 26, 1932, a son of the late Charles P. and Laura (Perron) Plante. He was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee and later lived in the Willimansett section of Chicopee before moving to Holyoke where he lived for many years. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of Private First Class.He was previously employed as a mechanic at the former Magna Buick in Holyoke and had last worked as a fork lift operator at the Hazen Paper Company in Holyoke. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Eileen R. (McClain) Plante who was Called Home on August 1, 2009. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his cherished daughter, Crystal Plante; and his sister, Doris Peloquin. He leaves his children, Edward P. Plante, Jr. and his wife, Tina, of Granby, Guy P. Plante of Belchertown, Jacqueline R. Michalak and her husband, Randy, of Belchertown, Owen D. Plante of Mississippi and Charles J. Plante of Holyoke. In addition he also leaves several grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Plante and McClain families.
