Evelyn E. Magoon
Lifelong Andover Resident
ANDOVER: Evelyn E. (Dufresne) Magoon, 81, a lifelong resident of Andover, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, December 18, 2013.
She was the beloved wife of Alvin H. Magoon, who passed away on July 10, 1999.
Born in Andover on September 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Oscar J. Dufresne and the late Charlotte S. (Lawrie) Dufresne.
Evelyn attended Andover Public Schools and graduated from the former Punchard High School in 1951.
She was proud to have been a career military wife and family, and until recently regularly used the Bedford Hanscom Air Force Base facilities and retiree services, where she had many acquaintances.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as an Office Manager for the Lewis Family Businesses of Andover for over 20 years.
Evelyn enjoyed crafts of all kinds such as knitting, quilting, sewing, ceramic pottery and Oriental rug making. In addition, she was an excellent pastry baker and an organist, who especially enjoyed sharing her talents during the holiday seasons.
She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie L. Haley and her husband Michael of Westford; twin grandsons, Kyle B. and Matthew P. Haley both of Westford.
Evelyn was the mother of the late Francis "Frank" Magoon and sister of the late Oscar "Bud" Dufresne.
Calling hours will be Monday, Dec. 23, from 9:30a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by her Funeral Service to be held in the funeral home. Interment at Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Evelyn and Alvin Magoon may be made to Operation Concern, c/o MSgt Stephen Willis, 130 Eglin St., Hanscom AFB, MA 01731-1616.
