Worcester—David E. Barrett, 77, of 10 Sturgis St. died Tuesday, October 5, 2004, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus. He leaves his wife of 51 years, Jane S. (Paliliunas) Barrett, 2 daughters, Nancy A., wife of Thomas J. Stankus of Plymouth and Edith G., wife of John P. Fortado of Gloucester, 2 brothers, Frederick E. Barrett of Biloxi, MS and Ralph E. Barrett of Mt. Holly, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
He was born in Worcester, son of Frederick E. and Beatrice M. (Bedford) Barrett. He was a graduate of Worcester public schools and was an equipment operator for the City of Worcester Maintenance Dept for 35 years, retiring in 1992. David was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Worcester Municipal Employees, the Tatnuck American Legion Post #288, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid bowler, bowling in the Sr. Men’s League of the Golden Ages of Auburn Bowling League. He was also an avid Red Sox fan and loved to fish.
Private funeral services will be held at 12 O’clock noon Friday, Oct. 8, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park.
