Robert Gene, “Bob” Smaltz 75, of Vermont and Florida passed away peacefully in Florida on December 8, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the loving husband of Sheila (Cohen) Smaltz. Bob is predeceased by his parents Ralph and Buna (Thedford) Smaltz and his daughter Terri Ann Evenden.
Bob was born in Pompeii, Michigan and was the second born of four children; sisters Shirley Weaver, Mary Paffi and brother Charles.
He had a very successful and rewarding life. Bob was the owner of an Engineering firm for 30 years and a Custom Closet Company for 15 years before his retirement in 2001.
After retirement, Bob and Sheila enjoyed spending their summers in Groton, Vermont and winters in Placida, Florida with their family and friends.
Bob leaves behind his devoted wife of thirty years, Sheila, children William Smaltz & his wife Isabella, Sheri Kulis, Jennifer Travers & her husband Brett, Adam Chase, Cindy Fiscus & her husband Richard; grandchildren Amanda, Austin, Brennon, Allie, Zachary, Heather, Jillian, William, Justin, Elizabeth, Alisha & Brandon; great grand children, Graeson, Jayden, Wyatt and Everet.
He displayed tremendous bravery during his six-year fight with lung cancer and will be fondly remembered for his gentle caring nature, charming personality and great sense of humor.
Memorial services will be held at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Monday, December 30th at 11:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Interment is private.
