Obituary

Lincoln P. Ricker died peacefully on October 1, 2004 at the Courtyard Nursing Home in Medford. He was 85 years old.Lincoln was born in Melrose on February 25, 1919 a son of the late John and Minnie Ricker. He was a lifetime resident of Medford, active in the community, involved in the Lions Club in Medford and V.F.W. Post #447 in Somerville. He was also a communicant of the West Medford Congregational Church. After graduating from Medford High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy for both World War II as well as the Korean War. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Lincoln was self employed as a carpenter for over 30 years, then moved on to the New England Plastics Company for 10 years and then worked until his retirement in the maintenance department for JEOL USA Inc. of Peabody for 18 years.Lincoln enjoyed building models, especially Naval ships and trains. He often donated his models to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital to benefit their annual auction. Fully dedicated to veterans causes, Lincoln donated many ships to military museums in the area.He was the former husband of the late Eugenia (Pretti) Ricker for over 20 years and the beloved husband of the late Eleanor(Collins) Ricker and loving father of Robert B. and his wife Carol E. Ricker of Medford, Richard J. Ricker of Conway, MA. Stepfather of John Collins of Texas and Frank Collins of Quincy. He is the devoted brother of Helen Worrel of Winter Springs, Florida. Cherished grandfather of Michael J., Kimberly Anne, Kristine, and Richard Ricker, Jr. and the great grandfather of Joshua Ricker. He is also survived by one niece, Cherry Elliston of Florida.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 9th, 2004 at 10:00 AM in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Interment, Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.Donations in Lincoln’s memory may be made to the Congregational Church of West Medford, 400 High Street, Medford, MA 02155
