Mr. Francis G. Carrigan, age 84, of West Roxbury died on October 4, 2004 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston following a long illness.
Mr. Carrigan was a retired employee of the MBTA. He retired in the early 1980's after 33 years of service. He retired from the Charlestown MBTA Maintenance Facility. He was a member of the Boston Carmen's Union Local #589.
Mr. Carrigan was born in Westwood and raised in Norwood where he attended local Norwood public schools. Prior to to moving to West Roxbury in 1955, he had previously resided in Jamaica Plain.
During WW II, Mr. Carrigan served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific War Theater and was part of the Army Occupation in Japan after Japan surrendered.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2004 in St. Theresa's Church, West Roxbury, at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday 4:00-8:00pm.
Mr. Carrigan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne F. (Needham) Carrigan, and three sisters, Mary Donohue and Patricia Goode both of Hyde Park and Mary White of Sharon. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and their families. He was the brother of the late William and Joseph Carrigan.
