Obituary

Mr. Richard J. Stanley, age 61, a resident of Woburn for nearly forty years, passed away on December 14th, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Sharon A. (Scholl) and together they shared 37 years of marriage. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Harold and Lillian (O'Donnell) Stanley.

"Ric", as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was raised in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston and was a 1970 graduate of Catholic Memorial High School. Following high school Ric attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst where he received his BS Degree in engineering. He worked for fifteen years with the EMC Corporation in Hopkinton and also lived for a year working in China. A talented Engineer he was the proud holder of two U.S. Patents in circuit board design. He was currently employed as an independent contractor with the MIT Lincoln Labs.

Ric enjoyed traveling and together with his wife Sharon and children, they traveled all over the world. His greatest joy was his family and spending time with his four sons, especially at their second home at Windward Harbor, Moultonborough, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee where together they enjoyed boating, biking, skiing and just sharing each others company.

In addition to his beloved wife Sharon, Ric is survived by his sons, Michael Stanley and his wife Daniela of Stoneham, Dana Stanley of Wakefield, Bryan and Derek Stanley both of Woburn. He was the loving grandfather of Luc Michael Stanley. Son-in-law of Charles Scholl of Woburn. Brother-in-law of David Scholl of CT, Michael and Glenn Scholl both of Woburn, and Brian Scholl of CA.

Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, December 19th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the American Lung Assoc. of Middlesex County, PO Box 265, Burlington, MA 01803 or to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, Sixth Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
