Palmer, Sarah (McDermott), 78, of Weston, MA and Fort Myers FL, December 14, 2013.
A devoted wife, caring mother, loving grandmother, and close family friend to many, Sarah was an inspiration to all that knew her. Resolutely hard working and always giving of herself to others, she finally succumbed to a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Sarah was born in Willimantic CT and spent much of her childhood in Burlington VT and Poughkeepsie NY. She graduated from Jeanne Mance School of Nursing in Burlington. She is survived by her best friend and husband of 57 years, Paul J. Palmer. They enjoyed retirement life together at Fiddlesticks in Fort Myers, FL. They are members of St. Julia’s Church in Weston, MA and members of Brae Burn Country Club in Newton, MA. She loved her summers on the Cape with her family and friends.
Sarah also leaves seven children, Paul Palmer Jr. of Groton, Mark Palmer of Newton, Michael Palmer and his wife Stacey of Norfolk, Elizabeth Plantamura and her husband Alan of Wrentham, James Palmer and his wife Lauren of Medfield, John Palmer and his wife Lumpoon of Southborough, and Sarah Daigneault and her husband Andy of Holliston. Her eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild will miss her greatly. She is also survived by five of her seven sisters, MaryJean Zellman, Teresa McAlpine, Francine Miraglia, Barbara Moore, and Susie Tabine.
Visiting hours at George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt. 16), Wellesley, Wednesday December 18 from 4-8PM. A Celebration of Life Mass will take place on Thursday, December 19, at 10AM in St. Julia Church, Weston Center. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Needham.
