WORCESTER___Joan P. (Blavackas) Wojciak, 80, of 7 Crowningshield Rd., died Sunday Sept. 26, in St.Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center. Her husband, Walter J. Wojciak died in 1979.
She leaves a son Paul J. Wojciak and his wife, Erin Wojciak of Grand Rapids, MI; a sister, Sophia Bieksha, of Worcester; two grandchildren, Daniel and Connor Wojciak; three foster grandchildren, Anthony, Dinna and Carrie Casello; several nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces. A son, Robert W. Wojciak of Worcester died in 1979. She was also predeceased by a brother, Joseph Blavackas of Millbury. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Vincent J. and Pauline Ann (Tatulis) Blavackas and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Wojciak was a registered nurse many years for the Dept. of Surgery at St.Vincent Hospital and retired in 1988. She also worked as a secretary at Holy Name High School. She graduated from Ascension High School in 1942 and from the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She also attended Boston College. Mrs. Wojciak was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church and its Womens Guild, the Worcester City Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, Colonial Chapter AARP in Shrewsbury, Knights of Lithuania Council 26 and the Lithuanian Charitable Society.
The funeral will be held on Thursday Sept. 30 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday Sept. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. Members of Knights of Lithuania Council 26 will meet at 6 p.m. during calling hours to conduct their ritual.
