Methuen – Joseph A. Marcinonis, 86, of Methuen, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen. He was the beloved widower of Claire (Pendergast) Marcinonis.
Born in Lawrence on July 15, 1927, he was the son of the late Alexander and Constance (Ineika) Marcinonis. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1945 and graduated with an associate's degree from Merrimack College in 1963. Joseph proudly served his country during World War II as a seaman first class in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked as a quality control engineer with Lucent Technologies for over 35 years until his retirement in 1989. In his free time, he enjoyed playing chess and also playing cards, especially bridge.
Joseph will be deeply missed by his daughter, Maryann Lane and her husband, David of Methuen; his son, John Marcinonis of Windham, NH; his 4 grandchildren, Jaime Lane and her husband, Chris of Methuen, Kelly Collins and her husband, Brian of Methuen, Michael Marcinonis of Lawrence, and James Marcinonis of Santa Barbara, CA; and his great grandson, Lane Collins.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Joseph's life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 9-10:30 AM. His Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at 11AM at St. Lucy's Church, 254 Merrimack Street, Methuen, MA. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested, in Joseph's honor, memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
