The Rev. William Martin MacKenzie 73, of Rochester, New Hampshire, died December 12 in St. Ann’s Rehabilitation Center in Dover New Hampshire.
Born in Somerville, February 6, 1940, the son of the late William A. and Marion A. (Corbin) MacKenzie, Father MacKenzie was raised in Medford.
He was a graduate of Matignon High School and St. John’s Seminary.
Father MacKenzie was ordained a priest in 1966.
He had served in the following parishes during his life.
St. Mary’s Church Franklin, Sacred Heart Church, Middleboro, St. Margaret Church, Lowell, St. Peter Church, Plymouth, St. John Church, Peabody, St. Jerome Church, Arlington, St. Mary Church, Salem, St. John Church, Hopkinton, St. Joseph Church, Medway, Our Lady of Good Counsel Church , Quincy and St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Church, Quincy.
Father MacKenzie retired to New Hampshire in 2001.
He is survived by his sisters, M. Kathleen Hilton of Middleboro, Rosemary E. Gately of Middleboro and Jean R. MacKenize of Buzzards Bay.
He was the brother of the late Dorothy M. MacKenzie.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday December 18 in St. Joseph Church, Village Street, Medway at 11:00.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 6-8 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway.
Father MacKenzie will lie in state in St. Joseph Church on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
