Obituary

Jane (Purdy) Moore of Mashpee, MA passed onto glory on Saturday, November 30, 2013.

She leaves behind Dr. Robert Moore, her beloved husband of 54 years, her son Jeff Moore and his wife Carol Moore of Holliston, MA, her daughter Mary Scalli and her husband Jim Scalli of Spring, TX, her 3 grandchildren, Lindsey & Charlie Moore of Holliston, MA and Jonathan Scalli of Spring, TX, her sister Jean Rosseau of Sherborn, MA and niece Laurie Rosseau of Marblehead, MA and nephew Todd Rosseau of Newburyport, MA.

Jane was born in Elmira, NY to Fred and Mary Purdy on October 6, 1936. Her early grade school years were spent in Rochester, NY. Jane’s middle schools years were spent in Whittier, CA where she fell in love with horses and dreamed of having her own one-day.

The family then moved back east to East Aurora, NY where she graduated from East Aurora High School as salutatorian. She went onto Cornell University and received her Bachelors of Science and Master of Science degrees in Home Economics with a Major in Clothing and a Minor in Home Economics Education.

At Cornell, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Jane married Bob on July 18, 1959 in East Aurora, NY and was blessed with 2 children whom they raised in Walden, New York while building their veterinarian practice.

They were very involved in Goodwill Presbyterian Church and then later were founders of the Mid-Hudson Christian Church. Jane loved to study the Bible and share her faith with those she loved and came in contact with. She also loved designing spaces and blessed many with her skills.

She had a huge heart for ministries and helping those in need as well as teaching couples to manage and prioritize their expenses.
After selling their veterinarian practice in NY, Jane and Bob retired to Poultney, VT where they built their dream house on Lake St. Catherine. In 2008 they relocated to Mashpee, MA to be closer to their children.

They became involved in Osterville Baptist Church and so loved & appreciated all the new friends that they met at OBC. In March of this year, Jane was diagnosed with metastatic cancer.

She fought a very brave battle and truly was ready to go home and to be with her Lord. Jane will be missed by her family and dear friends.

A private family service was held on Thursday, December 5th and a public memorial service to celebrate Jane’s life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 10:30 at Osterville Baptist Church, 824 Main Street, Osterville, MA 02655.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to either Harvest International Preparation Ministries (HPIM) located at 455 Interstate Court, Suite B, Sarasota, FL 34240 or online at www.HPIM.org or to the Stanley Tippett House, located at 920 South Street, Needham, MA 02492 or donate on line at www.vnacarenetwork.org where Jane was cared for by an incredible staff in the last months of her life.
