WEBSTER – Norma M. (O’Brien) McCarty, 84, of Webster, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 in Saint Vincent’s Hospital, Worcester. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Leo F. McCarty in 2008, by her sisters Helen M. O’Brien and Shirley E. Masley, and by her brother Thomas R. O’Brien.
She leaves a sister and devoted caregiver, Mary F. O’Brien; a nephew, Donald Masley; 4 nieces, her caregiver Barbara Masley, Sandra Ducharme, Jeanne Stawiecki and Patricia Martel; grandnephews and grandnieces.
She was born in Webster, the daughter of Thomas F. and Margaret T. (Morris) O’Brien and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1947.
Norma worked at Wolverine World Wide, formerly Bates Shoe Company. She was the manager of the payroll department when she retired after giving over 40 years of dedicated service. She was a lifetime member of Saint Louis Church.
The funeral will be held Friday, December 13, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 AM Friday in the funeral home. The family requests that donations in her name be made to the St. Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake St., Webster, MA 01570.
