Russell F. “Whitey” Marsh of Dedham, formerly of Hyde Park, passed away at his home suddenly on December 8, 2013. He had celebrated his 78th birthday on December 2, 2013.
Whitey was born in Revere in 1935. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 18, and served in the Army for 3 years. Whitey would go on to work for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years, mainly at the South Postal Annex in Boston.
When Whitey wasn't at work he could be found working on something at his home, or spending time with his children, grand- and great- grandchildren, or his dogs. Whitey LOVED kids and animals. He enjoyed walking the dogs, with his metal detector in hand. He also enjoyed playing practical jokes on his family and friends, and he loved the music of Frank Sinatra, especially "My Way."
Whitey was a Saturday night regular at the Raynham Dog Track, and he never missed Sunday Brunch with his dear friends. In addition to his family, Whitey will be missed by his friends and co-workers at Allen Young Movers of Dedham.
Whitey was the dear and devoted husband of Patricia “Tina” (Kelley). Loving father of Deborah Young of Dedham, Kathleen Kelley of Mashpee, and the late Joseph Murtha and William Kelley. Beloved grandfather of Shannon Young and her fiancé Luis Vasquez-Solis, and Christine Young. Great grandfather “Grampy” of Ava Rose, Luis III, and Lorenzo Vasquez-Solis. Brother of Norman Marsh of ME. Lifelong dear friend of Edward Domit and John Katibian.
Whitey's Funeral Service was held Friday December 13, 2013 at the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home 8 Spring St. (at the corner of Centre St.) WEST ROXBURY. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Whitey was laid to rest with U.S. Army Honors at Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham.
