Obituary

NATICK: David Michael Hession, Sr., age 64, a longtime Natick resident, died early Saturday evening, December 7, 2013, at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. He was the loving husband of Virginia M. (Cotton) Hession for 42 years.

Born in Co. Galway, Ireland, he was a son of the late John Patrick and Nora (Kavanagh) Hession. David immigrated with his family to the Boston area in 1958, sailing aboard the Cunard Line’s Britannic, paean to Titanic’s sister ship sunk by German torpedoes during the First World War. Last of the White Star Line’s great ocean liners, the old ship made an indelible impression on the nine year old.

David was a graduate of Dedham High School. After several work experiences, he and Virginia settled in Natick and David became a motorcoach operator. He drove for many companies in the course of his career, among them Brush Hill, Crystal, and North Hill. He retired for medical reasons in 2006, while working with the Peter Pan Bus Company. A family oriented man, David reveled in stories about his grandchildren and loved to be in their company. He looked forward to large family gatherings particularly those centered on food. A follower of all New England sports, he was a particular fan of the Red Sox and also enjoyed going to the movies.

He is survived by Virginia; their children, Kimberly M. LeBlanc and husband Louis of Natick, Cara F. Pound and husband Jason of Newton, and Dave M. Hession, Jr. and wife Cleide of Framingham; four grandchildren, Emma, Christiano, Caeden Liam, and Ava.; a sister, Helen Stanley and husband Paul of Walpole; a brother, Kevin Hession and wife Maureen of Sutton; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Ann McKenzie and husband John, John Hession, Jr., and Gerard Hession.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, on Friday, Dec. 13th at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Natick.
