Josephine A. (Distasi) Putignano, age 96 of Hull, died Friday November 22, 2013 at the Harbor House Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hingham after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John Putignano for 50 years. Josephine was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late Leo and Angelina (Settana) Distasi and was a graduate of Brockton High School. For the last 17 years she had made her home in Hull with her son Michael and his wife Lyn.
Together with her late husband, she was the proprietor of the Avon Town House for many years.
She had been a member of the Active Day Center in Hingham since 2008 and liked to read and walk. She will be remembered by her family as doing everything in moderation. Josephine truly enjoyed spending time with her family and was proud of their accomplishments.
Josephine was the mother of Joanne Creedon and her husband Jack of Marco Island, Florida; John L. Putignano and his wife Joanne of Middleboro, Michael J. Putignano and his wife Lyn of Hull and the late Donald J. “Sonny” Putignano. She was the sister of the late Marie Lalli and Gloria Distasi. Josephine also leaves many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Visiting hours were omitted. Josephine’s burial was held November 26, 2013 in Calvary Cemetery attended by her devoted family who saw her through her illness. A month mind Mass will be celebrated on December 30, 2013 at 9am in St. Ann Church/St. Mary Parish 208 Samoset Ave., Hull, MA. The Putignano family would like to thank the staff of South Shore Support Agency and Harbor House for the attentive care they provided to Josephine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Active Day Center 20 Pond Park Rd., Hingham, MA 02043.
