Thomas Gregory Moore, 65, of Tifton died Thursday, December 5, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2013, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. Rev. T. J. Mauldin and Dr. Danny Ray will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Ryner Patrick, Danny Mauldin, Dan Evarts, Hunter Honeycutt, Jared Smith and Raymond Wilson, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will members of the Lyles Plantation Hunting Club. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 7, 2013, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Moore was born on February 26, 1948 in Tift County and was the son of Thomas Bennett Moore and Onie Cooksey Moore, both deceased. He was retired as a research technician from the Coastal Plains Experiment Station. He was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved his family and his animals.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jimmie Copeland Moore of Tifton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bryan Moore of Tifton and Jerry and Jean White of Ballground; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marci and Lee Honeycutt of Tifton and Mandy and Trey Woolery of Buford; one sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Hiram Smith of Loganville; his mother-in-law, Odessa Copeland; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tim and Debra Copeland; sisters-in-law, Jennifer Wilson and Gwen Pate and her husband Leon; and eight grandchildren, Madison Honeycutt, Hunter Honeycutt, Gavin Woolery, Ava Woolery, Ashlyn White, Anna White, Addison White and Emily Moore.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society, 323 Pine Avenue, Albany, GA 31701.
