Frances I. Pilkington, 94

Frances I. (Shepard) Pilkington, age 94, a lifelong resident of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Norwood Hospital in Norwood. She was the beloved wife of the late Lester W. Pilkington.
Born in Mansfield, MA on October 11,1919, she was a loving daughter of the late F. Schuyler and Mae A. (Leeds) Shepard.
Fran grew up in Mansfield and was a 1937 graduate of Mansfield High School. She furthered her education and was a 1939 graduate of Lasell Junior College in Newton.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Pilkington had been employed for nine years as a secretary to the Superintendent of the Mansfield Public Schools, retiring in 1979.
Fran was a member of the Congregational Church of Mansfield, the Lasell Founder’s Club and was a former member of the Mansfield D.A.R.
Mrs. Pilkington loved spending time with family and friends. When younger she was quite active with the Mansfield Girl Scouts and had also enjoyed many winters spent in Sarasota, Florida.
She was the devoted mother of the late Susan E. Pilkington-Boorujy. She was dear sister of Marian L. Wheeler of Mansfield and the late Helen S. Beuttel, Margery S. Strople and Priscilla S. Halloran. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield. Visiting hours have been omitted.
