Smith, Anne (Hathaway) of Plymouth, 82, at Jordan Hospital November 26, wife of the late John A. Smith, Jr. Mother of Pamela Smith Holmes of Plymouth. Sister of Dr. John W. Hathaway and Nancy H. Caton both of Lusby, MD. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Anne was born in Washington, DC the daughter of Arthur and Marjorie (Wallace) Hathaway. She attended Plymouth Schools and graduated in 1950, attended Northeastern and earned a BS degree in Biology from Bridgewater State College at age 55. Anne worked for Jordan Hospital in the Laboratory for many years and then for Ocean Spray for 17 years as an Analytical Chemist. Anne was an avid sailor and was the first Woman Skipper on the Northeastern Sailing Team. She was a member of the Plymouth Yacht Club and the First Parish Church in Plymouth. She loved her family, home, playing her piano, and her gardens.
A memorial service will be held at the First Parish Church Unitarian, Town Square, Plymouth at a later date in the spring There are no visiting hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in Anne’s memory may be made to Oncology Department at Jordan Hospital 275 Sandwich Street, Plymouth, MA 02360
