Evelyn F. (Levenson) Butler, a 44 year resident of Wakefield, entered into eternal life on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading following an extended illness. She was 71 years old.
Evelyn was born in Everett on November 2, 1942, a daughter of the late Francis J. Levenson and Marguerite E. (Bent) Levenson. She grew up in Everett where she was educated in the Everett Public School system and graduated from Everett High School in 1960. She received her degree in nursing from the Chelsea Soldiers Home in Chelsea and has been a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 50 years. Evelyn has been the Assistant School Nurse at the Northeast Metro. Regional Vocational High School in Wakefield for over 20 years. She also worked as a LPN at Whidden Hospital in Everett and New England Memorial Hospital in Stoneham. She was a member of Klaxon Old Car Club and enjoyed her quality time with her family at the lake in Wndham, New Hampshire.
Evelyn is the adored and loving wife of 50 years to Robert "Peter" Butler. She is the devoted mother of William F. Butler and his wife Elizabeth of Hooksett, New Hampshire, Sandy D. Flanagan and her husband Jimmy of Wakefield and Michael E. Butler and wife Tammy of Methuen. She is the loving Mema to Matthew and Kate Flanagan, Bret and Jake Butler. She is the beloved sister of Ruthie Arty and her husband James of Maryland. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Evelyn's Funeral Service on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 10 A.M. in the First United Methodist Church, 645 Main St. Melrose. Interment at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 2 to 6 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose/Wakefield line.
