Carroll Peter Clavin, 81, of New Bedford died peacefully on Monday November 4, 2013 at Alden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Roberta M. (McHugh) Clavin, who passed away February 26, 2013.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Brigadier General Charles B. and Mildred W. (Carroll) Clavin, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Mr. Clavin was formerly employed as an insurance sales representative for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company and John Hancock Life Insurance Company.
Pete was a graduate of Monsignor Coyle High School in Taunton and Norwich University. He was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. He served in the Army National Guard for 20 years until his retirement.
He is survived by his sister, Patricia Clavin Rochford of Barrington, RI; his grandchildren, Eric Clavin and Katie Souto, both of New Bedford; a great-granddaughter, Mya Souto; his daughter-in-law, Joan Souto of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Robert C. Clavin and Jeffrey P. Clavin, and brother of the late Charles Barry Clavin.
A Memorial Mass for Pete and Roberta will be celebrated on Saturday December 7, 2013 at 9 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
