Obituary

Carlton G. “Captain Carl” McMorrow, a 59 year resident of Stoughton formerly of Cranston, Rhode Island, Purple Heart Recipient and United States Navy Veteran / Submariner of WWII and Korea passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday November 26, 2013 at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in West Roxbury. He was 86 years old and the beloved husband of over 65 years to Marie L. (Manning) McMorrow. He was the loving father of Marlene L. Bilcik and her husband Ronald of Jamesburg, New Jersey and Gail L. Sly and her husband Eb of Bridgewater. He was also the cherished grandfather of Melanie Freidman, Katie Bilcik, Jackie Sly and Terriann Sly.
Born May 18, 1927 in Rockland, Massachusetts, Carlton was a son to the late James E. and Lillian McMorrow. He attended Rockland Public Schools. Mr. McMorrow served his country proudly during WWII and Korea and was HONORABLY discharged in 1954 with the rank of “Electrician’s Mate Third Class” His hobbies included, hunting and fishing. He was a member and attended the Grace Church in Stoughton. Mr. McMorrow was a member of both the American Legion Post # 89 in Stoughton and the Michael Romanuk VFW Post 1645 also in Stoughton. He was also a member of Rising Star Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Stoughton for over 46 years, a former Precinct 6 Stoughton Town Meeting Member and also served for several years on the board at the Stoughton Council On Aging.
Captain Carl was employed as a supervisor on the midnight shift for over 25 years at the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Department in Dedham. He was an Expert Marksman and Firearms Instructor. Carl was also proud to be an advocate for blind veterans and was also a dedicated volunteer for many years at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday November 30, 2013 at 12 noon from the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. The Pastor Sean Sears (Grace Church of Stoughton), officiating. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10am – 12 noon. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. Interment with military honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Flowers are welcome.
