Obituary

: Margaret Craig Sarrasin, 91, formerly of Moss Street, Pawcatuck died peacefully November 23, 2013 at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Margaret was born on July 12, 1922 the daughter of Francesco and Orsola (Faulise) Sammataro. She grew up in Pawcatuck and graduated in 1940 from Stonington High School.

She married William T. Craig Jr. in 1951 who predeceased her in 1965. She later married John A. Sarrasin who predeceased her in 1988. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church.

Margaret was employed by the First National Store in Pawcatuck for over 35 years retiring at the age of 70. After retirement she enjoyed traveling, playing bridge at the Westerly Senior Center, and watching her beloved Red Sox and UConn Women Huskies.

She is survived by her son, William T. Craig III and his wife, Carol of Mystic, her daughter, Mary Ellen O’Connor and husband Richard of Holyoke, Ma.; her sisters, Ann Seibold and husband George of Rhinebeck, NY, Carmella Moore of Stonington, Rosemarie DeVivo and husband Jim of Wallingford, CT and her brother John (Jack) Sammataro of Pawcatuck; two step grandsons, Scott and Michael Barnes and many nieces and nephews.

Her daughter, Margaret Ann Longhi and her sister Josephine Urso predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Saturday, November 30, at 10am at St. Mary’s Church, Stonington Borough. Burial will follow the service at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly RI. There will be no calling hours.

The family would like to thank the staff of Academy Point at Mystic, where Margaret made her home the last two years, for the wonderful care given to her.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Michael’s Church, 60 Liberty Street, Pawcatuck CT 06379.
