CHICOPEE – James P. Mooney, 82, of the Fairview section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Monday, November 25, 2013. He passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett East in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home in Amherst on August 13, 1931, a beloved son of the late John P. and Anna A. (Schmeckel) Mooney. His family lived in Amherst and Belchertown before moving to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1931. Jim served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army and attained the rank of Corporal. He was employed for many years as a mix operator at the James River Graphics in South Hadley. He leaves his loving brother, William H. Mooney of Chicopee; his cherished nephews, James T. Mooney and his wife, Donna, and John Mooney, all of Chicopee; his cherished niece, Maureen A. Dupont and her husband, David, of Hudson, NH; his cherished grandnephews, Timothy Mooney and Austin Mooney; and his cherished grandniece, Kimberly Dupont. Besides his parents he was also predeceased by his loving brother, John P. Mooney and his loving sister-in-law, Annette H. Mooney who was Called Home on January 11, 1987.His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Service of Committal with US Army Military Honors on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
