Obituary

Mary (Byrne) Cox, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, died November 21st , 2013. Mary was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Byrne and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She worked at McCartney’s in Lawrence and Merrimack Mutual in Andover before marrying Donald Cox in 1953. She spent the better part of her years raising her four children. After the death of her husband in 1988, she married Dr. Wesley Perkins in 1996. They were married for 12 years until his death in 2008.
Mary was devoted to her family and friends. She loved dining out, playing cards with “the girls”, and shopping to maintain her always fashionable appearance. She mainly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and many friends for her delightful sense of humor and her generosity of spirit. She will be remembered for the many times she shared her time and energies so unselfishly to those in need.
Mary was the loving mother of Don Cox and his wife Tracy of Newton, MA, Jane Kilpatrick and her husband Gary of Acton, MA, John Cox and his wife Donna of Stuart, FL, and Paul Cox of Washington, DC. She was devoted to her grandchildren, Ariel and Gavin Cox, and Shawn, Ryan, and Michael Kilpatrick.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Patrick Church, Broadway, Lawrence, on Monday November 25th at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Sunday November 24th from 3 to 7 PM. Interment was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
