FALL RIVER… Cecile V. Borkowski, 91 of Fall River passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Wladyslawa (Alice) Luszcz Borkowski and was a lifelong resident of this city.
She was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and the former F.G. Allen Business School. Ms. Borkowski worked as a secretary for many years for the Pacific Oil Company. She was a member of the Polish National Alliance Knights of Cracow Lodge #1887; the Harcerze; past president of the Polish National Alliance Bristol County Council #81 and served as delegate to 3 PNA national conventions. Served as vice-president of the Polish Younger set; treasurer of Tadeusz Kosciuszko Women’s Club; secretary in the Fall River Chapter of National Secretaries Association; assistant treasurer and member of the board of directors of the Community Fund; historian in the Polish Business and Professional Club; recording secretary of St. Stan’s Seniors. Member of the former Mary Konopnicki Society of the Polish National Home; Relief Committee; Holy Rosary Sodality of St. Stanislaus Parish; St. Cecilia’s Choir at St. Stanislaus Church; director and recording secretary of the Polish National Home, Inc.; member of Krakowiak Dancers of Fall River, Allegro Glee Club, she was also involved in bowling and Tai Chi.
She was the godmother of Pamela Bowler of New Hampshire and Thaddeus Tosior, Jr. of Fall River, 2 cousins: Edward Wood of MI and Virginia Nathan of RI, she also leaves her close personal friends and confidants Isabel Jamrog of Somerset, Ronald Thibault, and Theresa E. Berard both of Fall River.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 8 AM from the BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 709 Broadway Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 36 Rockland St. Fall River. Calling hours will be held Tuesday November 26 from 4-6 PM. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
