Arthur W. Sawyer, Jr., 84, of Salem, NH died Thursday, November 21st at Nevins Rehabilitation Center in Methuen, MA.
Arthur grew up in Salem and graduated from Woodbury High School. He served in the Navy and retired from Atlas News and Adams Drug in Lawrence. Arthur worked at spring training for the Toronto Blue Jays. He volunteered at a hospital in Florida for many years. Arthur was an avid card player and he also enjoyed bingo.
He was predeceased by his parents, Emily (Hartman) and Arthur W. Sawyer, Sr. and his brothers Robert and Donald Sawyer.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary (Toscano) Sawyer of Salem, his sons, Russell Sawyer of Troy, NY and Gary Sawyer and his girlfriend Lynn Falardeau of Salem, NH; his brother, Russell Sawyer of Sandown, NH; 4 grandchildren Chris, Kelly, Mary Ellen and Marjorie; 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including Jo-Ann Huddleston who helped care for Arthur during his illness. His family appreciates your devotion.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Nevins Rehab Center for the wonderful care that they gave to Arthur during his stay.
Memorial visitation will be Monday, November 25th from 4:00-8:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH. There is no funeral service.
