
NEW BEDFORD — Raymond L. Peitavino, 70, passed away on November 18, 2013, at home after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Lauretta (Joyal) Peitavino for 28 years.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Americo and Agnes (King) Peitavino. A lifelong resident of the area he was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and the Rhode Island School of Textiles and Technology. He was the former Vice President of the Peitavino Silk Mill and Cape Cod Fabrics in New Bedford and assistant manager of the Midway Bowling Center in Dartmouth.
He was a member of the New England Championship Racing Club and the Train Collectors Association of America. He was an avid football and baseball fan. His sense of humor and kindness will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by three daughters, Shannon Joyal and Christine Peitavino of New Bedford, and Cheryl Wiegert and her husband Anthony of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Alicia and Tiffany Mattos of Berlin, NH and Zackery Wiegert of New Bedford; his sister, Eleanor Perry Mallan and her husband George Mallan, Ph.D of Dartmouth; and beloved niece and godchild, Debra Perry of Acushnet.
At his request, he will be cremated. Burial will take place at a later date.
