
Paul J. McGuire, Throop, died Tuesday at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth Young McGuire, he was a 1951 graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot. He was an Army veteran, having served in Korea from 1952 to 1954, and was honorably discharged as a corporal.
He is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Rosetta Richardson; two sons, Paul J. "Mugsy" McGuire Jr. and companion, Lisa Paolucci, Throop; and Raymond McGuire, Ormond Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Bethann Hutz and husband, Brian, Bear Creek Twp.; Jennie Hiller and husband, Neil, Olyphant; and Rosetta McGuire and fiancé, Bobby Miller, Dickson city; a brother, Robert McGuire, Lansdale; a sister, Betty Thomas, Moosic; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son, James P. McGuire, in 1987; a granddaughter, Erica McGuire, in 2009; a brother, Patrick McGuire; and a sister, Marian Brelsford.
The funeral will be Friday at 8 p.m. in the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, by the Rev. Michael Shambora, pastor, Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church, Dickson City. Interment will be private.
