ORLANDO, FL - Marie J. (Stavrospoulas) Barrett, beloved wife of the late George Barrett and Herbert Perkins Jr., died at the Florida Hospital Orlando on Nov. 6, 2013.
She was 89.
Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn (Walker) Stavrospoulas.
Raised and educated in Brockton, Marie was a long time resident of both Bridgewater, and most recently Orlando, Florida.
An avid candlepin bowler, Marie bowled in Bridgewater, Brockton and Central Florida candlepin leagues.
An animal lover, she spent much of her time caring for her pets.
Sports were also a large part of Marie’s life.
She enjoyed cheering on the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots, even from Florida.
Survivors include her daughters, Elaine Coe of Taunton and Kris Ventriglia of Cranston, RI; her sister, Fay Starr of Florida; her grandchildren, Heather Marshall, Justin Coe and Tyler Coe, all of Taunton; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Lillian Anderson and Jim Starr.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Taunton on Saturday, Nov. 23rd at 10 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
