Charles J. (Sherm) Pattavina of Methuen and Salisbury Beach has gone in peace to rest with the Lord. He passed surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with melanoma.
Charles was born in Lawrence, MA on 4/5/38. He was the son of the late Charles J. Pattavina Sr. and Sally (DiGiovanni) Pattavina.
Charles graduated from Lawrence High School in 1955. He went on to further his education at Boston University and Bentley College. He also served with the National Guard. Charles worked the majority of his career as an Assistant General Manager of Standard Data, a division of Standex International. He also owned and operated Pattavina’s Restaurant in the Methuen Mall. He was a member of St. Lucy’s Parish, Star of the Sea and the Knights of Columbus. He was past President and Treasurer of the Methuen Community Kindergarten, past President of the Ashford PTA and a past commissioner of the Trust Funds of the City of Methuen.
Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years Theresa (Dell ‘Ova) Pattavina of Methuen, his daughters Ann Marie (Pattavina) and her husband Edward Sullivan of Andover, Karla (Pattavina) and her husband Sean Bradley of Methuen, and Jill (Pattavina) and her husband James X. Fitzpatrick of Methuen, his grandchildren Nicholas and Shauna Bradley, Joseph and Charles (CJ) Fitzpatrick, and Kevin and Kylie Hern and Amy Sullivan, a brother John Pattavina of Haverhill and was preceded by his sister Carol Pattavina. He also leaves several nephews, cousins and close friends that he considers part of his family.
Charles enjoyed boating, fishing, lobstering, scuba diving, jogging, skiing, hiking, FINE DINING and his annual trips to Key West. His favorite times were spent at the beach house with his family and close friends. Charles had a deep love and affection for his family. There was no sacrifice that he wouldn’t make for them. He was a man that never said no to anything that was asked of him.
Charles was very active in his grandchildren’s lives. He loved watching their sporting events and never missed his granddaughters dance competitions. He supported his beloved grandson and namesake, CJ, by attending numerous autism events and advocating for autism awareness.
Words cannot express how lucky we were to have such a devoted, caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
