New Bedford – Ferdinand C. Macedo Jr., age 63, passed away on Friday November 15, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in New Bedford he was a son of Ferdinand C. Macedo Sr and the late Gladys (Simpkin) Macedo and was a life-long resident of this area. Mr. Macedo worked at the Veteran's Transitional House as a Counselor.
Ferdinand is survived by 3 children: Bethany Macedo of New Bedford, Melissa LaCroix of New Hampshire and Christopher Macedo of Florida; 3 siblings: Deacon Paul Macedo, Edward Macedo and Terri Souza all of New Bedford as well as 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Ferdinand’s funeral will be Friday, November 22, 2013 beginning at 8:00 A.M. at PERRY FUNERAL HOME, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated.
Visiting hours will take place Thursday evening in the funeral home from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The S. E. Mass. Veterans Transitional Housing Program 20 Willis St., New Bedford, MA 02740. Arrangements have been placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
