Shirley A. (Quimby) Beattie
of Tewksbury

TEWKSBURY: Shirley A. (Quimby) Beattie, age 86, a resident of Tewksbury for 60 years, formerly of Malden, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital- Saints Campus on Wednesday, November 13, 2013.
She was the beloved wife of the late David J. Beattie, who passed away on May 17, 2005.
Born in Malden on March 22, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Burr B. Quimby and the late Rose M. (Keegan) Quimby.
Shirley was raised in Malden, attended Malden schools and graduated from Malden High School.
In 1953, she and her late husband moved to Tewksbury, where they raised their family.
Mrs. Beattie previously worked as a Secretary for the Internal Revenue Service and for the Tewksbury School Department.
As a soloist, her beautiful voice blessed many occasions and her skill in oration was requested by many at special occasions and ceremonies. She blessed her family with many life lessons always teaching by example.
She is survived by four children, Cathy A. Beattie of Tewksbury, Carol A. Skrickis and her husband Robert of Sandwich, David M. Beattie and his wife Kathleen of Pelham, NH and Chris-Ann Fullen and her husband Thomas of Tewksbury; seven grandchildren, Kelly, Brian, Kevin, Matthew, Michael, Ryan, and Cameron; three great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Scott and Kate; two brothers, Burton Quimby of Meredith, NH, and Mel Quimby of Hubbardston, MA ; also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was the sister of the late Rosemarie LeRocque.
Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 15, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Rd., Andover. Interment at Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley's memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley, MA 02481.
