Obituary

Priscilla A. Caswell, 93, of Epping, NH, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 29, 1920 in Brockton, MA, Mrs. Caswell was the daughter of the late Frederic and Laura (Hatch) Armstrong. She was raised in Dartmouth and Boston, MA and graduated from Boston University, where she majored in Latin and received a degree in Classics. She also held a Secretarial degree from Simmons College in Boston. Mrs. Caswell and her husband, Harry P. Caswell, served in the US Marines in Hawaii prior to returning to the East Coast to live, and eventually settled in Sandown, NH. She worked as a Legal Secretary in Boston from 1946 to 1950, and in the 1970s was a secretary for the Church of the Transfiguration in Derry, NH, where she was active in the church community. She also worked for the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services in Salem from 1974 until her retirement in 1985. Mrs. Caswell was a voracious reader, loved animals, and was an avid bird watcher.

She is survived by her daughter, Alice M. Caswell, and her husband Philip Harris, of Epping, NH; six nieces and nephews, Naomi, Laura, Benjamin, Jonathan, Susan, and David; grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband.

There are no calling hours. Following cremation, memorial services were held on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Church of the Transfiguration, Derry, NH. Burial followed in Center Cemetery, Sandown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Farm Workers; to "Spare Change," P.O. Box 62, Keene, CA, 93531; or to the Church of the Transfiguration, 1 Hood Road, Derry, NH 03038. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH, is assisting the family with arrangements.
