Thomas “Tom” David McCormick, Sr., 86 , passed away on November 10, 2013 at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Home, Manchester. Born in Granby, CT on January 30, 1927, he was a son of the late Robert and Margaret Mahoney) McCormick.
Tom grew up in CT and spent his adult life in CT, NH, and FL. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served from January 1949-October 1952. Tom graduated with highest honors from the University Of Connecticut in June of 1959 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He retired in 1987, after 21 years with GE as an engineer having worked on the Apollo program. Tom was an avid reader and he loved to plant his garden. He loved having his family around and especially loved traveling and the holidays.
Tom is survived by Thomas Jr. of Ormond Beach, FL, Timothy and his wife Allison of Nottingham, NH, Terence and his wife Mary of Chester, NH and a daughter-in-law, Darlene McCormick of Port Orange, FL, seven grandchildren, Michael and Daniel McCarthy, Laura, Spencer, Caitlin, Nathaniel and Kirsten McCormick; one sister-in-law, Marge McCormick of Arizona, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Barbara (Brow) McCormick in 2010, his youngest son, Todd Christopher in 1992 and his siblings, Edward, Richard, Eugene and Marion.
Calling hours were held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH. Funeral services were held in the funeral home at 1:00pm. Burial will be held at a later date at Edgewater New Smyrna Cemetery in Florida.
