Noel E. Martin, 86

Dateline: Tabernacle, New Jersey

Noel E. Martin, age 86, of Tabernacle, New Jersey, formerly of Norton and Abington passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice Center in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
He was the beloved husband of Hazel L. (Emmons) Martin to whom he was wed on August 3, 1947.
Born in Brockton, MA on January 14, 1927, he was a son of the late Noel Martin and Cora (Giguere) Martin-VanDeusen.
He grew up in Abington and was a graduate of Abington High School. During WWII he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps and was honorably discharged on April 16,1947 with the rank of Sergeant.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Martin had been employed for 13 years as a sales representative at Winde Distributors in Woburn till 1992. He had formerly worked at N.J. MacDonald’s Kitchen Co. in West Bridgewater and as a plant superintendent at Beauty Form Plastics in East Bridgewater.
A resident of New Jersey for the past 13 years, Noel was a member of the American Legion in New Jersey and a former member of the Norton American Legion Post 222. He was a former communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and was a parishioner of Holy Eucharist Church in Tabernacle, NJ.
Noel loved spending time with family and friends alike. His hobbies included woodworking and gardening. He also enjoyed throwing horse shoes and a “friendly” game of poker.
In addition to his beloved wife of 66 years he is survived by his devoted children, David N. Martin and his wife Marie of Florida, Diane M. Marston and her partner Carol Valaitis of New Jersey and Susan H. Jones and her husband William of Taunton. He was the dear brother of Anne Rhue of Wareham, Dennis Martin of Florida and the late Corinne Fozzy. Mr. Martin is also survived by his cherished 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, as well as several; nieces and nephews.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 11:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St.(Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial with military honors will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visitation will be held prior to the services on Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 A.M., at the funeral home.
