BROWN, PETER PAUL passed away peacefully on November 9, 2013 at his residence in Marshfield, MA. Formerly of Abington, MA Peter was born on February 26, 1921. He was married to his loving wife, Priscilla (Pat), for 67 years, who survives him. Peter is also survived by his sons Peter Brown Jr. of Maine, Mark Brown of Marshfield, MA, Michael Brown of Vermont, and Tim Brown of Pembroke, MA as well as his daughter Annmarie Davis of Ohio. Additionally, Peter is survived by his brother Alfred of Hanson, MA. and his sister Kathleen of Dennis, MA. Peter and Pat had 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren as well as a large extended family who lovingly remember him.
Peter served in the US Navy during World War II as a Petty Officer, 1st Class, aboard the USS Ticonderoga, surviving several kamikaze attacks in the South Pacific. After World War II, Peter worked at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, MA and then as a carpenter in Massachusetts, being a member of the Carpenters Union Local #275 for more than 50 years. He was a respected foreman and continued to train carpenters for the union following his retirement. A lifelong member of the VFW and a member of South Shore Baptist Church in Hingham for many years, Peter was a hardworking, humble and caring man whose family meant the world to him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday November 12th from 4:00-7:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. ( Rte 58 @ the rotary circle) Whitman. Funeral services will also be held in Blanchard’s Funeral Chapel on Wednesday November 13th at 1:00 PM. Peter will be buried at the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Abington, MA. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Peter Brown’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project (PO Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675).
