Joseph W. “Mike” Maheux, age 83, of Brockton died unexpectedly Thursday November 7, 2013 surrounded by his family at the Signature Healthcare/Brockton Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Therese A. (Provost) Maheux for over 60 years.
Joe was born in Brockton a son of the late Honore and M. Aurora (Pigeon) Maheux and remained a lifelong resident of the city. A 1949 graduate of Brockton High School, he served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Joe retired from the City of Brockton Water Department after many years of service. Previously he was employed at the A&P grocery store.
Joe loved bowling from a young age up until his seventies. He also enjoyed golf and had been a member of White Pines Golf Course in Brockton and Strawberry Valley Golf Course in Abington. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and previously had been a member of Sacred Heart Church and its Holy Name Society. Joe will be remembered as an upbeat and cheerful man devoted to his family. His true joy in life was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by six children, Claire T. Veno and her husband Joseph of Brockton; Susan M. McLaughlin wife of the late Patrick of Attleboro; Joan M. Adduci and her husband Alfred of Pembroke; Joseph M. Maheux and his wife Zenaida of E. Bridgewater; David E. Maheux and his wife Maggie of Marlboro and Carol J. Burns and her husband Robert of Hanson. He leaves five grandchildren Jonathan and Jennifer Veno, Patrick McLaughlin, Jr., Derek and Amanda Maheux and a great grandson Jeremy McLaughlin. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Beek.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Tuesday 4-7 pm. The Funeral Procession will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
