Obituary

George Wilfred Plasse, age 69 passed away on Nov 2, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Mar 2, 1944 in Springfield to the late Germain J. and Jeannette (Perrault) Plasse. He was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church and now Mary, Mother of Hope Church in East Springfield. George served in the 2d BN 104th Infantry in the MA National Guard attaining the rank of Specialist. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was a member of the American Legion Post 420 and the K of C Elder Council #69. He was a truck driver for over 25 years for the Keebler Corp. before retiring. He leaves his loving wife Rita J. (Hagberg) Plasse of Springfield; one son John J. Plasse of Springfield; one daughter Lily Marie Plasse and her husband Ron Boardman of Troy, NH; one brother retired Lt. Col. Roger H. Plasse and his wife Elizabeth D. of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren Thomas M. Plasse of CA, Edward O. Boardman and Ingrid H. Boardman and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tues Nov12, 2013 at 8:45 AM from the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 AM at Mary, Mother of Hope Church. Interment will follow in St Michael Cemetery with Military Honors. Calling Hours will be held on Mon Nov 11, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Donations may be made in George’s name to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, Development Office, 34 Lower Westfield Rd. Holyoke, MA 01040.
