Augusta, GA – Mrs. Shirley Blitch Brinson, 83, beloved wife of the late Lt. Col. Remer Young Brinson, U.S. Army Ret., entered into rest on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at University Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2013 in the Brinson Family Cemetery in Canoochee, GA with Rev. Dr. Michael Cash officiating.
A native of Macon, GA, Mrs. Brinson was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pierce G. Blitch, Sr. She attended Valdosta High School, Wesleyan College, and the University of Georgia. Mrs. Brinson retired from the C & S Bank with 25 years of service where she worked as a bank teller. She was a former member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Brinson is survived by her children, Benjamin P. Brinson, William H. Brinson (Ruth), Ginger B. Dobbs (John), Carol B. Tuten (Ray), and Remer Y. Brinson, III (Laura); her grandchildren who lovingly knew her as Mema, Johnny H. Dobbs (Paige), Ashley T. Holmes (Matthew), Amanda T. Karp (Mike), Larry Summerlin (Jenney), Jeremiah Womble (Amie), Loraine Womble, Matthew G. Dobbs (Erin), Christopher R. Tuten, William Lewis Brinson, Lauren H. Brinson, Remer Y. Brinson, IV (Kelly), and Holton L. Brinson; by her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Ray Holmes, John Brinson Dobbs, and Issac, Jared, Grayson, and Katie Summerlin; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Brown; and by her dearest friends, Jean Daniels and Bonnie Brooks.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Brinson was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Pierce G. Blitch, Jr.; sister-in-law, Betty Lane Brinson; brother-in-law, Dolan E. Brown, Jr.; and by Helen Evans Blitch.
Pall bearers will be Dolan Edward Brown, II, David B. Brown, Sr., Mark H. Brown, Pierce G. Blitch, III, and Dale Richardson.
