FAIRHAVEN — Claudia Brownell (Jenney) Simpson of Fairhaven, MA passed away at the age of 63, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a devoted and loving mother who died at home surrounded by her family and loved ones on Monday, November 4, 2013.
Born in New Bedford, Claudia was the daughter of Marjorie E. Jenney and the late Dr. William L. Jenney. Claudia raised her family in Fairhaven at the family's beloved Wide Marsh Farm. Claudia worked many years in her father's practice and later as a writer at The Standard Times. She retired from The Taunton Gazette.
Claudia's interests were working at the box office at The Zeiterion Theater where she enjoyed socializing with co-workers, patrons and loved watching the shows at the Zeiterion. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her beloved mother, Marjorie E. Jenney; daughter, Jennifer M. Simpson (fiance Jeff Henley); son, Steven J. Simpson (companion Jessica Semiao); sister, Lisa Jenney Duncan (John); brother, William Howland Jenney, (Pam Gray); and nieces, Laura, Anna, Hailey Gray-Jenney; and nephew, John Gray.
Claudia requested that family and close friends gather to celebrate her life. Close friends and family are invited on Saturday, November 16th, from 2 to 5pm at her mother's home on 150 Hawthorn Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Zeiterion Theater, 684 Purchase St., New Bedford, MA 02740, in memory of Claudia Jenney Simpson.
