Obituary

Tony Merideth, 88, of Louisville departed this life to go to his eternal home Tuesday, November 5, 2013. He was born in Edmondson County, Kentucky on August 30, 1925 to the late Walter and Nannie Merideth. Tony was a retired general carpenter Foreman at Louisville Gas & Electric, he was a member and honorary past master of Valley Lodge 511, a Kentucky Colonel and a faithful attendee of Greenwood United Baptist Church until his health began to fail and he was unable to attend any longer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Alean; his oldest grandson, Daniel Matthew Peake and his brother James “River Jim” Merideth. Left behind to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Kathy Peake and her husband Ron, and Vicky Hornback and husband John who was also a buddy and caregiver to Tony, and a son Ken Meredith; grandchildren, Dawn Phipps of Tampa, Florida, Melissa Becht (Adam) of Floyd Knobs, Indiana, Angela Jackson (Bradford), Jessica Schweitzer (Jason), Bradford Meredith and John Andrew Hornback, all of Louisville; great-granchildren, William and Samuel Becht, Katelyn, Meredith and Ella Jackson, and Avery Schweitzer who is due to make her appearance in February. Tony is also survived by his former daughter-in-law, Sandra Wildt and her husband Gary, both whom he loved very much, his niece Mary Highbaugh and her family. Funeral service will be Friday 12:00 P.M. (Noon) at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, November 7th , from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful employees of Hospice for the kind and compassionate care given to Tony during his illness.
