DUDLEY – Josephine A. “Jo” (Petraitis) Cozzens, 96, of Dudley died Monday, November 4, 2013 in Rose Monahan Hospice, Worcester after an illness. Her husband of 24 years, Frederick H. Cozzens, died in 1969.
She leaves a daughter, Barbara Cozzens of Middletown, CT; and many friends. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Walter and Alphonse Petraitis.
She was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of James and Veronica B. (Mazutis) Petraitis. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1935.
Mrs. Cozzens was first a secretary for the Worcester School Department, then for the Welfare Department in Worcester and finally at Guaranty Bank in Webster before she retired.
She was a member of Saint Anthony of Padua Church. She was an avid reader. She loved to bake for others – the neighbors, the police department, friends at the public library and many acquaintances.
The funeral will be held Thursday, November 7, at 10:00 AM in Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Road (please meet at the church). Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Webster. Donations in her name many be made to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Road, PO Box 277, Dudley, MA 01571-0277. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
