Obituary

WAYLAND: Frederick A. “Fred” Poirier, 91, died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by his daughters on Sunday, November 3, 2013 following a brief illness.
He was born in Northfield, New Hampshire on July 12, 1922 the son of the late Alcide A. Poirier and Elizabeth M. (Byron) Poirier.
He is survived by his devoted and loving daughters; Michele A. Daley of Blackstone; Mary J. Poirier of Bedford, NH; Marilyn J. Goodman and her husband Mark of Canton and Judith M. Poirier of Hamilton, MT. Brother of Barbara Steagall of Rome, NY and Philip Poirier of Lebanon, CT. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the husband of the late Lillian M. (Davieau) Poirier who died on March 21, 1997.
Fred spent his earlier years in the Saxonville area of Framingham, and graduated from Framingham High School. He served his country proudly with honor as a Staff Sergeant with the United States Army during World War II. He began his career as a truck driver with Ashland Sand and Gravel and for many years he was associated with Carlson Construction in Wayland in the blue print department. He retired after many years as a brew master for the Carlings Brewery on the shores of Lake Cochituate. He loved Porsche cars and had an extensive collection which he owned as well as built. He enjoyed traveling and attending many Porsche car shows and events over the years. He was an active member for years at the Evolve Gym in Framingham where he worked out faithfully until a few months ago and had many lasting friendships. He was a loving and devoted family man who will be fondly remembered by his family.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in the Poirier family lot in St. Zepherin Cemetery, Bent Avenue, Wayland.
