CAREY, JAMES JOSEPH, 97, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 3, 2013 following a brief illness. He was born in Boston on September 21, 1916 the son of the late Richard Carey and Emily (Foley) Carey. James is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary C. (Rego) Carey of Natick. He was the devoted father of Kathleen F. Williamson and her husband David Williamson of Las Vegas, NV and Jean M. Kulesa and her husband Stanley Kulesa of Mohegan Lake, NY and the late Reverend Dennis G. Carey who died in May of 2013. Also survived by four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Daniel Carey, Alice Carey, Paul Carey, Richard Carey and William Carey. James spent his formative years in South Boston and at the age of nine moved to Natick where he graduated from Natick High School. He served his country proudly during World War II as a Private with the United States Army Air Corps. He was a graduate of Boston College and received his BS in Social Work. He had a long and distinguished career as an Industrial Specialist with the United States Government Department of Defense at both Hanscom Air Force Base and at the Boston Army Base. He was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest, enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life and was an avid Red Sox fan. He was devoted to his family who were the center of his life. Visitations will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 9:00 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main Street (Rte 27) Wayland.
