Obituary

NATICK: Anne York Chase, age 77, a registered nurse and summer resident of Mattapoisett, died peacefully on October 31, 2013, at her Natick home after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the loving wife of W. Bradford Chase, Jr.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Fredrick and Dorothy F. (Whitman) York. Anne was a graduate of Warren High School in Warren, RI, and continued her education at the University of Rhode Island, earning a Baccalaureate of Science in nursing in 1958. Eighteen years later she completed her Nurse Practitioner Certification at Northeastern University.

Mrs. Chase served as the Director of Health Services at Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill for 14 years. Thereafter she worked on an on call basis with the health directors at Wellesley, Framingham State, and Regis Colleges. Mrs. Chase was also employed part time with the Natick Public Schools, and would perhaps be remembered in town as the longtime Camp Nurse at Natick’s Woodtrail Camp.

A devoted mother and doting grandmother, Mrs. Chase was particularly fond of gardening at both her Natick and Mattapoisett homes. She attended services at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church.

She is survived by Brad; their four children, W. Bradford “Chip” Chase III, and his wife Kelly of Springfield, VA, Julie C. Serino and her husband Vinny of Saugus, Clifford D. Chase and his wife Sue of Blackstone, and Beth Lederman and her husband Bill of Natick; and thirteen grandchildren.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Anne’s life will be held in Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 39 East Central Street, Natick, on Thursday, November 7th at 11:00a.m. Visiting hours will be at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Wednesday 4 – 7p.m.
