Obituary

Richard J. Bagley, age 83, of Attleboro, formerly of West Bridgewater and Brockton, died October 29, 2013 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro. He was the husband of the late Marie T. (Matthews) Bagley. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Richard H. and Joanna (Donovan) Bagley. He was raised and educated in South Boston and had been employed as a Printer by the Boston Herald for 56 years. He was a lifetime member of the International Typographer’s Union, Holbrook Sportsman’s Club, National Rifle Association and Samoset Rod and Gun Club. Richard was a history buff, especially of the Civil War, and enjoyed participating in War Games. He was known for his marksmanship and was a Sharp Shooter, Firearm Safety Instructor and Firearm Competition Official. He also enjoyed Square dancing and Round dancing competitions, and traveling to Alaska and Europe. He was an avid reader who also enjoyed old movies, serials and science fiction.

Richard is survived by his children Joanne Videto and her husband Charles of Attleboro, and Richard K. Bagley and his wife Christine of Groton; five grandchildren Alison Videto, Katharine Camara, Bethany Videto, Megan Reisert and Erin Bagley and a great granddaughter Emma Camara.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday, November 1, 5-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Saturday at 9:30am for a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, West Bridgewater at 10:30am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery. Donations in his name may be made to the Gentiva Hospice Foundation, 7801 Mesquite Bend Drive, Suite 105, Irving, TX 75063.
